I think the creators of waking life chose to use animation because in animation the audience only sees exactly what you want them to see. Everything avalible to their eyes is what the creators drew into the picutre. There are no unwanted flaws and no accidents.
The movement in the film is a little akward, but I think it adds to the effect of the animation. Certain objects and charicters move more realistically than others.
